Sony A7R2 A7RII in loop (bootloop)
Some time ago I found out my Sony A7R2 was in some kind of bootloop. Though the camera is 7 years old now I still use it when I need more cameras. The image quality of this camera is still top notch! There is very little and even not visible image quality between the A7R2 and A7R3. Both are excellent cameras but the A7R2 only has one SD card slot and is slow when you operate it. When the buffer is clearing you cannot access the menu for example.
Though I still use it as a third camera when photographing a Gary Numan concert mainly for wide angle shots where speed of focussing is less important using wide angle lenses. The depth of field using a wide angle less is a lot more at f2.8 compared to using 200 mm f/2.8.
I bought this camera on the grey market. This means it is not made for the european market and therefor there is no European garantuee and the dutch language is not available too. However I installed a fix that fixed this problem and after the update I can also use it as a video camera for videorecordings longer as 30 minutes. I would not recommend buying grey market stuff but to buy at your local dealer. I never had any problems until now.
It just wouldn’t boot and I thought it was over and out.
When I plugged in the USB cable suddenly the menu showed up with mass storage active. Unplugging the camera made my camera work again until I removed the battery.
I found out you only need to set the date and time and then the camera is working again like before.
